One of the first signs that spring has arrived in Colorado is the bright yellow flower display of Ribes Aureum, Golden Current. I snapped these photos down the road from the nursery yesterday. It is a fantastic shrub, extremely  useful in any landscape. In addition to the flowers which are followed by edible currents, it has distinctive leaves that turn red in the fall. It is naturally dense and bushy without pruning and birds and  bees love it! I should add that spring in Colorado is here, but it snowed last night!
